Stuck between two hair colours? We know the struggle! Luckily, hair colour split is a thing. The colour split, also called half and half hair or split dye, is simply when hair is divided down the middle and each is dyed a different colour.

OSMO® Color Psycho semi-permanent hair colour cream is perfect for creating the look. The 2020 trend for head-turning colour splits shows no sign of dye-ing down. We’re delving deeper into the bold, creative concept to give you expert guidance for some of our favourite two-tone looks and tips on how best to maintain the adventurous choice.
1. Choose Colours Wisely
One of the best things about the colour split is getting to be creative, but make sure the two chosen colours look great next to each other.
Check out some of our best combinations using OSMO® Color Psycho:
Opposites Attract: Get the colour wheel out and choose colours across from each other for maximum contrast and impact.
Bold options include Wild Green and Wild Rouge, Wild Orange and Wild Cobalt or Wild Purple and Wild Yellow.
Pastels: Soft pastel shades look amazing together. Blend any Color Psycho semi-permanent hair colour cream with the Color Tamer to create unlimited pastel tones.
Mix some Color Tamer with Wild Blue and Wild Pink for a powder blue and candyfloss pink finish. Another combination is Wild Green and Wild Violet mixed with the Colour Tamer, giving a soft mint green and lavender duo.
Complementary Colours: Choosing colours from the same shade line always creates beautiful results.
Try Wild Orange and Wild Fuchsia for fruit salad vibes, Wild Teal and Wild Cobalt for a mystical mermaid look or Wild Claret and Wild Orange for a head-turning, fiery style.
Half Natural: Go wild on one side and keep the other natural, this works particular well with dark shades and blonde hair. Plus, it’s less work maintaining just one side!
2. Care For The Colour
A targeted hair care routine is a must for coloured hair. We recommend using our OSMO® Colour Save Shampoo and OSMO® Colour Save Conditioner which are both 100% salt and sulphate free and boast OSMO® Anti-Fade System to visibly extend the life of your colour. Follow up with OSMO® Colour Save Colour Radiance Mask once a week to give hair a boost of intense nourishment and shine.
3. Keep Up With The Colour
Outgrown roots will disrupt the symmetry of the colour split. Keep on top of root growth with regular touch-ups with your colourist so your style always looks fresh and fun.
4. Say No To Heat
Sleek, straight hair or bouncy curls will make the colour split look incredible but always give hair a detox from heat styling where possible.
Instead, try a voluminous, gritty, messed up texture with OSMO® Matt Salt Spray or enhance your curls with OSMO® Curl Fluid. If you do need to use heat, grab a bottle of OSMO® Thermal Defense to protect your hair against damaging heat and environmental elements.
Avoid over washing hair too to minimise your chance of using heat, OSMO® Day Two Styler dry shampoo will be your new best friend!
